Recently, the research team led by Prof. Tian peng and Prof. Liu zhongmin has made progress in the morphology control of SAPO molecular sieve.

PZPMS as a mesoporogen and isopropylamine (IPA) as the organic-structure directing agent were used to synthesize SAPO-5 and SAPO-34molecular sieves with special morphology. The effects of the amounts of organosilane and silica source were systematicallyinvestigated which may change both crystalline phase and the crystal morphology. Hierarchical channels formed after removal of the organics, and the MTO catalytic performance of SAPO-34 molecular sieve was significantly improved. The hydrogen bond interaction between PZPMS and IPA is the key to synthesize SAPO with special morphology. This work provides an effective strategy to control the morphology of SAPO molecular sieves.
